5 Tips On How I De-stress

Let us turn our focus on stress!

Most of us can admit that we stress on a day-to-day basis. I know for a fact, I do. I spend about 90% of my day stressing about almost everything and anything under the sun.

I even stress about stressing… Let me just admit it now that I am a HOT MESS! Most of the time, I don’t even have anything to stress about. My mind and anxiety just play tricks on me and that results in me running myself up a wall.

The other day, however, I was soooo stressed out. I am talking about ugly crying, hair pulling kind of stressed out. I didn’t know what was my problem, but I knew I had to do something about it because I was starting to get on my own nerves. So, I went for a relaxing bath and that’s when this idea popped into my head. I knew I had to make a blog post on how I destress, because I know I’m not the only one who just has days where you’re just a stressed hot mess!

I am going to give you guys 5 tips on how I destress!

Warm Bath //
I must say after a long day of LIFE, a warm bath should be on the TOP of your list. It will help you unwind and relax. Its like you’re washing all of that stress off of you. Now, doesn’t that sound amazing?

Soothing Music //
I listen to calming meditation music on Pandora, while I am in the bath. One of the benefits of listening to calming music is that it reduces your stress levels and helps you become more relaxed and connect with your inner peace.

Journaling //
Journaling has become a very essential part of my life. That is why when I feel my stress levels are going up, I reach for my pen and paper. If you aren’t comfortable with talking to people about what and how you are feeling, then journaling is a great start. I, too, feel as though I communicate better through my writing. So, that is one of my outlets when I am feeling like a stressed hot mess.

Walking //
Nature is so beautiful and it has such an amazing calming effect on the body. Sometimes, you just need to go for a little walk and watch your problems disappear into the wind.

Unplug //
This one is VERY important. Unplugging from your electronic devices is a MUST. Social media can be a positive place, but there is PLENTY of negativity surrounding it. It’s always good to unplug from all of the negativity in the world because that can and WILL add-on to your stress.

I hope that some of these tips help you if you ever find yourself stressing and you have no clue what to do.

What are some tips and tricks that help you de-stress?

  1. Great tips! I find it SO hard to unplug- especially when having a little one running around. I really need to schedule some time when daddy is home and just hand off the toddler so I can take a little TLC.

  2. I have a giant problem doing self care destressing because I always have so much to do as a WAHM of three boys. But when I do destress I love a bath or a workout or watching a show with my kids. These are great tips and something we all need to make time for.

  3. I love the unplug and the hot bath!!!!! I need to do this ASAP! With social media I feel like it’s so hard to just not constantly reach for your phone! Always something to do this holiday season great reminder!

  4. Journaling is my daily life line. I dunno where I’d be without it.

P.s. from one blogger to another maybe a good way to title this is “5 Tips on How to de-stress’ versus ‘5 Tips on How I de-stress’ since it should really be about the reader who needs the tips.

Just a suggestion, no offense meant. Great post.

  5. I love every single method you suggested. Very similar to how I de-stress.. but the unplug point is the best. I think that is probably the hardest thing to do in our day and age. But thank you for summarizing this! Definitely saving this one 🙂

  6. I’ve got some solid de-stressing methods down, but I never leave my phone when I’m destressed which is something I really need to do! Like you said, social media and texting and all can be very positive but it is also incredibly easy to fall into negative mindsets while anticipating a text or scrolling through somebody else’s life.
